Pest control visits
The ongoing routine visits from the pest controller you contracted before opening — bait stations checked and refreshed, proofing re-inspected, and a signed visit report left on each call.
The ongoing routine visits from the pest controller you contracted before opening — bait stations checked and refreshed, proofing re-inspected, and a signed visit report left on each call. A typical commercial contract runs a visit roughly every 6 weeks, which works out at 8 to 12 visits a year depending on your risk level and the season.
A live contract is only worth anything if the visits actually happen and you can prove it. An EHO does not just want to hear you have a pest controller — they want to see recent, dated visit reports on file. Gaps in the visit history read as a lapsed contract, which is treated the same as having no pest control at all.
Search the British Pest Control Association register if you need to check or switch contractor.
Who this is for
Any venue with a kitchen or food storage area already on a pest control contract.
What you’ll hold
- Visit report from every scheduled pest control visit
Watch out for
- Letting visits slip when trade is quiet, then scrambling to catch up before an inspection — the gap itself is what an EHO notices, not just current pest activity.
- Filing visit reports somewhere no one checks, so a proofing recommendation from three visits ago never actually gets fixed.
- Assuming the contractor will flag a problem unprompted — read each report; you are still the one responsible for acting on it.
