Electrical installation periodic inspection
A Licensed Electrical Worker inspects and tests your fixed wiring — cabling, distribution board, sockets and fixed connections — and issues a periodic inspection report noting any defects.
Not yet independently verified — check the source link: EMA’s periodic-inspection frequency for a commercial electrical installation wasn’t independently confirmed this pass.
A Licensed Electrical Worker inspects and tests your fixed wiring — cabling, distribution board, sockets and fixed connections — and issues a periodic inspection report noting any defects. This is treated here as an assumed annual default pending confirmation of the actual interval the Energy Market Authority (EMA) requires for commercial premises of your type.
A lapsed or unaddressed periodic inspection is a common reason insurers decline fire-related claims, and it is also simply how you find out about a dangerous fault before it causes a fire or an outage rather than after.

Who this is for
Every commercial venue — any premises with a fixed electrical installation.
What you’ll hold
- Periodic electrical inspection report
- Remedial works quote and completion record, if any defects were raised
Watch out for
- Treating a clean report as the end of the job when it lists lower-priority observations that still need addressing before the next inspection.
- Using an electrician who is not a Licensed Electrical Worker recognised by EMA, so the report carries no standing if it is ever challenged.
- Not checking your insurance policy wording — some insurers specify a shorter interval than the general regulatory minimum.
