Grease trap visual inspection
A physical, camera-free inspection of the grease trap chamber itself — checking the tank, lid, baffles and general condition by eye.
A physical, camera-free inspection of the grease trap chamber itself — checking the tank, lid, baffles and general condition by eye. This must be carried out by a licensed plumber, and runs on the same 5-year cycle as the separate CCTV inspection of the connected pipework.
The trap chamber itself can develop physical faults — a cracked lid, a failing baffle, corrosion — that a camera run through the pipework won’t catch. PUB expects both checks, not just the one that happens to be more thorough-sounding.
We don’t yet have a vetted Singapore contractor directory — ask your landlord or trade association for a recommendation.
Who this is for
Any venue with a kitchen and a grease trap installed.
What you’ll hold
- Visual inspection report, dated, from a licensed plumber
Watch out for
- Assuming this is the same job as the CCTV inspection because they fall due in the same year — they are separate requirements: this one is a plain, camera-free check of the trap chamber by a licensed plumber; the CCTV inspection is a camera-based check of the connected pipework by a PUB-registered contractor. Doing one does not satisfy the other.
- Using a general handyman instead of a licensed plumber, so the inspection doesn’t count if it’s ever queried.
- Scheduling this and the CCTV inspection separately without checking whether the same visit can cover both, and ending up paying for two call-outs instead of one.
