Apply for your liquor licence
A licence to supply liquor for consumption on your premises.
A licence to supply liquor for consumption on your premises. It is issued by the Singapore Police Force, not the Singapore Food Agency — a common assumption to get wrong, since your food licence and your liquor licence come from two completely different authorities and are applied for separately.
Supplying liquor without a licence carries a fine of up to $20,000 (or up to 3 months’ imprisonment for repeat offenders, or both). There is no grace period — you cannot open and apply retroactively.
Via GoBusiness (SingPass/CorpPass). About 15–20 minutes to complete the form.
Who this is for
Any venue supplying liquor for consumption on the premises — bars, restaurants, wine bars.
Class depends on what you actually want to do: Class 1A/1B for general on-premises supply with different trading-hour caps, Class 2A/2B for beer-only, Class 3A/3B for retail (off-premises) sale, Class 4 for wholesale, Class 5 for one-off events up to 30 days.
What you’ll hold
- Your approved liquor licence certificate — display it on the premises
Watch out for
- Applying to SFA, or assuming your Food Shop Licence covers alcohol supply. It does not — this is a separate application to the Police Regulatory Department.
- Not accounting for the public drinking-hours ban (10:30pm–7am, island-wide) when planning trading hours — it restricts public-place drinking, not your licensed premises’ own hours, but it catches out venues near a Liquor Control Zone (Geylang, Little India) with extended weekend/public-holiday restrictions.
- Choosing the wrong class for what you actually plan to serve — Class 2A/2B is beer-only; if you plan to serve spirits or wine you need Class 1A/1B.
