F-gas leak checks
A leak check of any refrigeration, air conditioning or walk-in cold room system containing fluorinated gas (F-gas) refrigerant, carried out by an F-Gas registered engineer.
A leak check of any refrigeration, air conditioning or walk-in cold room system containing fluorinated gas (F-gas) refrigerant, carried out by an F-Gas registered engineer.
F-gas refrigerants are potent greenhouse gases, and a leaking system also loses cooling performance and can damage the compressor. The F-Gas Regulations make regular checking a legal duty for anyone responsible for the equipment, not just good practice.
Confirm the company is F-Gas registered (e.g. REFCOM or equivalent) before booking.
Who this is for
Any venue with air conditioning, a walk-in fridge or freezer, or other refrigerant-based cooling.
What you’ll hold
- F-Gas leak check record
- Updated refrigerant log
Watch out for
- Assuming a small split air-con unit is exempt from leak checking — the requirement is based on refrigerant charge size, and smaller systems still need periodic checks.
- No refrigerant log kept, so nobody can show the charge history an engineer needs to work out the correct check interval.
- Treating a re-gas as routine maintenance rather than investigating why the system is losing refrigerant in the first place.
