TM44 air-con inspection
An inspection of your air conditioning system carried out to CIBSE TM44 by an accredited energy assessor, covering efficiency, controls and sizing, with the report lodged on the national Energy Performance of Buildings Register.
An inspection of your air conditioning system carried out to CIBSE TM44 by an accredited energy assessor, covering efficiency, controls and sizing, with the report lodged on the national Energy Performance of Buildings Register.
This is a legal requirement, not just good practice — a system that should have a valid inspection on the register and does not leaves you non-compliant even if you have a private report filed away.
Confirm they are accredited to lodge the report on the national register — a report that never gets lodged does not count as compliance.
Who this is for
Any venue with air conditioning systems totalling more than 12kW of cooling capacity.
Only applies where your combined air conditioning cooling capacity is over 12kW — small single split units under that threshold are exempt.
What you’ll hold
- TM44 air conditioning inspection report (lodged on the national register)
Watch out for
- Assuming this is covered by your F-Gas leak checks — TM44 is a separate legal requirement about system efficiency, not refrigerant containment.
- Getting the inspection done but the assessor never lodges it on the register, which leaves the building non-compliant on paper.
- Missing that combined output across several smaller units can still add up to more than 12kW and trigger the requirement.
