Food Shop Licence renewal
Your SFA Food Shop Licence runs for 12 months and has to be renewed every year, online, before it lapses.
Your SFA Food Shop Licence runs for 12 months and has to be renewed every year, online, before it lapses. Renewal is normally a formality if nothing about your premises has changed since the last inspection β but SFA can still act on any outstanding hygiene issues at renewal time.
Trading on a lapsed Food Shop Licence is the same offence as trading with no licence at all β SFA can close the premises and prosecute. A lapsed licence can also void the business-interruption side of your insurance if you are found to have been trading unlicensed.
Via GoBusiness (SingPass/CorpPass).
Who this is for
Every standalone food shop (not a stall inside a food court, coffeeshop or canteen) holding an SFA Food Shop Licence.
What youβll hold
- Renewed Food Shop Licence certificate, with the new expiry date β display it on the premises
Watch out for
- Waiting for a reminder from SFA that never comes β the duty to renew on time is yours, not theirs.
- Renewing without first clearing any outstanding hygiene or inspection issues, which can hold up the renewal.
- Letting the licence lapse over a public holiday period, then assuming trading can continue until the office reopens β it cannot.
